A strategic meeting took place at the Embassy of Nepal in London between leadership from the Society of Nepalese Engineers UK (SONEUK) and the Acting Ambassador of Nepal to the UK, Mr. Bipin Duwadi.

The SONEUK delegation included Chairperson Er. Subodh Timilsina, Er. Srijana Khadka, Executive Member Er. Sony Adhikari, and Ms. Ajeena Timilsina.

Celebrating Women in STEM

The primary focus of the discussion was a joint initiative to host a formal event at the Embassy on June 23 in honor of International Women in Engineering Day. The goals for this upcoming celebration include:

  • Recognition: Honoring the professional achievements of Nepali women in the engineering sector.

  • Advocacy: Encouraging increased female participation within the engineering profession.

Strengthening Diaspora Ties

Beyond the June event, Mr. Duwadi and Er. Timilsina explored broader strategies to connect SONEUK with the global Nepali diaspora. Key themes included:

  • Institutional Engagement: Creating more avenues for UK-based Nepali engineers to collaborate directly with the Embassy.

  • Youth Outreach: Mr. Duwadi specifically highlighted the need to involve young engineers in Embassy-led activities to foster a stronger professional network.
